Rebecca Wallace on Giving and Impact

DSC07376_edited.png

For Rebecca Wallace, giving to Intown Cares isn’t an abstract act of generosity — it’s a personal conviction rooted in decades of working with organizations that strive to improve people’s lives. As Intown Cares Board Co-Chair and a monthly donor, Rebecca brings both leadership and lived understanding of what it takes to create meaningful change.

“I am a supporter of Intown Cares because I have never seen such an effective outreach model or such a passionate team executing it,” Rebecca shared. “My husband, Don, and I go ‘the extra mile’ in our monthly giving because the Intown Cares outreach team goes the extra mile each and every day for our unsheltered residents. If more of our neighbors gave this way, I am positive we could eradicate homelessness in Atlanta.”

Rebecca’s belief in the work is grounded in her 25+ years of experience developing communications strategies for advocacy groups, nonprofits, and government organizations across Georgia. Early in her career, she served as communications director for what would become the Georgia Department of Economic Development, supporting statewide initiatives and the Office of the Governor. Over time, her work deepened around pressing issues, including  poverty, education, juvenile justice, and cancer care.

Through it all, one thread has remained constant — Rebecca’s commitment to ensuring that people living in poverty are seen, supported, and given pathways to opportunity. That commitment is what drew her to Intown Cares, where she continues to champion the dignity, safety, and stability of neighbors experiencing homelessness and food insecurity.

As a monthly donor, Rebecca believes in the consistent, reliable support that fuels our homeless services and food programs every day. Her leadership and generosity serve as a powerful reminder that with each personal commitment, we expand what is possible for our community — one neighbor at a time.
