Empowering Seniors with Food Security and Community 

In 2023, our Food Programs team started a conversation with our friends at Urban Recipe to figure out how the food distribution organization's community co-op model could fit into Intown Cares' food philosophy. We were looking for ways to support vulnerable neighbors amid the changing food landscape, particularly a group of seniors on fixed incomes.

Rooted in Food Justice, Growing Community Change

When students at Springdale Park Elementary School (SPARK) learn about food justice, it’s not just a classroom lesson — it’s a lived experience that connects directly to their community. Just around the corner from their campus, Intown Cares has become a natural partner in helping students understand how food insecurity and homelessness affect their neighbors and how their own actions can make a difference.

A New Beginning for Ms. Gladys and Squirt

When Intown Cares Homeless Services Case Manager Johnathon first met Ms. Gladys in June 2025, she had been navigating homelessness off and on for several years. Alongside the challenges of finding stable housing, she was also living with depression and anxiety — often reaching moments of deep discouragement. 

Rebecca Wallace on Giving and Impact

For Rebecca Wallace, giving to Intown Cares isn’t an abstract act of generosity — it’s a personal conviction rooted in decades of working with organizations that strive to improve people’s lives. As Intown Cares Board Co-Chair and a monthly donor, Rebecca brings both leadership and lived understanding of what it takes to create meaningful change.
